--New Stuff--

Ok so it has been a couple of months since the completion of the R38. It is nice to see other developers following in the R38's footsteps.
As for me, I haven't been able to be as active here as much due to schoolwork and the like. However I do have a little bit of development time available to me during the weekends and vacations.

Anyway, down to business:
The recent release of openbve allows for the reversing of cars using the extensions.cfg. I can use this feature to allow for the utilization of only one .animated car object, thus allowing for higher frame rates and faster loading times.

I also am looking for people to help out with improving the R38's 3D exterior model. If anyone would like to help with that, please PM me.

Also the BVE4 version is on hold for now because of limited resources. If anyone would like to take up this project, PM me.

For info on the TOMC, see my post in that thread.

How?

Dj Hammers:

loading less objects in to memory means lower memory utilization which leads to higher frame rates and faster switching to exterior views from the cab.

check the openbve release notes to see what im talking about

imanuelagard:

How about converting the objects to .PNG. I heard its way less than .BMP, and the image clarity is great. Also the amount of cars that are created helps the train load faster or slower. For example i want permission to release a Shuttle 2 Car Set of your train set. I edited the the .cfg files and made it a shuttle for franklin avenue and the Euclid Avenue (H).

If you wanna check it out let me know.

I converted many of the textures to PNG, there are some that I didn't convert because it would simply require too much time to change all of the texture references in all of the b3d files. If anyone would like to take this up please PM me.

I am also looking in to a way to create one large package with all of the different possible train lengths that utilizes only one set of sounds, textures, b3ds, etc.

btw manny feel free to release that 2 car version.
