That's the default, you can also be hired if you have enough work experience by the time you're 18, which is close to impossible since you need like 4 years

I believe you're not able to choose which line you get to operate when you first get out of schoolcar. Once you become incumbent and gain some seniority, you might be able to get the run(s) that you want when the seasonal picks come around.

2 Train Master:

Yea I think everyone starts as "extra" so you'll be all over the place(division) filling in for people who are out sick,on vacation or whatever.My friend is an extra and he's usually on the East Side(Lex Av Lines) and the (7) but don't worry.
