An interesting article on page 5 of today's Metro:
http://www.metro.us/newyork/local/article/691766--filming-buses-trains-terror

I really do love how some police have the audacity to say it is illegal to film or photograph on public property when such activity is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution..and then to threaten to put people on terrorist watch lists???

But isn't there such a thing that if the government has reason enough to believe that people are using their rights to endanger society or the government, then they could take away those rights? Freedom sometimes needs to be sacrificed in return for security.

Well, I recall hearing or learning that, but still the Bill of Rights are natural rights granted to every citizen, so taking away even mankind's basic rights would just make the government too powerful.

Yes but the police have been directed to not condemn anyone filming or taking photos, obviously they didn't get the memo.

which is why I carry a copy on me at all times

Dj Hammers:

it is quite sad state of affairs when a photographer must carry around a copy of his rights with him while taking pictures.....
