Cross Platform Downloads

ipaclansite:

As an extension to our current downloads, BVEStation will begin offering cross platform downloads, which will allow users of other operating systems to download our routes and trains.  This will make it easier for users of other operating systems to download and extract the files.  This will help OpenBVE users on other operating systems and will serve as an added convenience for current users as there wont be any exe files. (no more false virus alarms, lowered risk of virus infections, etc.)

I am asking for anyone who has released a route/train on BVEStation and currently has exe files used to extract routes/trains if they would like to have their routes/trains cross platform compatible, I will repackage them into zip files and upload them onto the site.  Nothing will be changed other than the purpose of not using an exe.

You guys can also comment on this idea if you'd like.

Thanks guys!

Yea, its hard for Mac users running openBVE to use EXE files. If anyone needs help I could help them repackage their routes

Yeah, specially since I have to get a mac from school, I want to use it to play OpenBVE while I'm not at home...  :P

As a user of both mac and windows (lol and linux) with some form of BVE running on all 3 OSes I don't think that .exe files should be taken down. I find them easier to use rather than zip files. I suggest giving the option to download either a .zip or .exe.

I use Windows 7 and Ubuntu, and I could say first thing I never got EXEs to run on Ubuntu
