GoYankees:

You will need 3 .dll fies, (install bve first of course)
dx7vb.dll
dx8vb.dll
d3drm.dll
To download, go to
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/dx7vb.dll/5.03.2600.2180/download.html
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/dx8vb.dll/5.03.2600.2180/download.html
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/d3drm.dll/5.1.2600.0/download.html
and save all 3 on ur desktop.
then go to the search part of ur start menu and search for windows explorer.
Open 2 of those windows and for 1, go to desktop and other go to c:\windows\system32
Drag the 3 .dll fies u downloaded to System32.
Then go to accessories and right click command prompt.
Click run as administrator. (this is why most ppls cant get bve on vista!  RUN AS AN ADMIN!)
then a black window like the one on the bottom will appear with a heading "adminisrator:command prompt"
then type cd c:\windows\system32 and then hit enter
then regsvr32 dx7vb.dll. and hit enter
a window that says dllregserver succeeded will appear. click ok.
then regsvr32 dx8vb.dll and hit enter
a window that says dllregserver succeeded will pop up. click ok.
then exit and hit enter
that should do it.
(Remember, this works for both BVE 2 AND 4. so don't ask what verison this works for.
(this may sound like  computer nerdish, so u got to speak if u don' understand.

Its good to see a tutorial on bvestation.com rather than being linked outward.  But at least give the author credit.

Kamakazi:

This works on Windows 7. Just make sure to run the command prompt under Adminstrator Mode.

Also do this if the tutorial doesn't work the first time around.

Kawasaki_Plant:

For the newbies: If this doesn't work try right clicking the BVE shortcut and check run in Compatibility with Windows Service Pack 2.

This method will not work at all on recent graphics cards.
