Which BVE?

Harry:

Which BVE should I use?

What are the differences?

I'll wait to hear some suggestions from you guys before I go downloading and installing anything.

Phantom909:

Hi Harry

Both versions of BVE has it`s good points and bad points. I personally prefer the older (BVE2) version. If you are interested in NYC Routes, I build them more for BVE2 than BVE4. But my routes will work on BVE4.

Harry:

Okay so BVE 2 it is.  I'll go ahead with the downloading and installing and post back here when I'm all done.

What's the deal with BVE4?  Less support, less routes?

ipaclansite:

BVE 2 is more pointed toward the beginner, though it really depends on the routes.  Most of the NYCTA routes are fully compatible with BVE 2, since most of the trains were designed for BVE 2, the controls are easier, and there's some small information about the route itself while you drive it in BVE 2.

BVE 4 is more pointed to advanced users, and the higher end routes are built for BVE 4.  Usually the UK routes that have near realistic graphics run on BVE 4 best.

Though it doesn't really matter which one you use, BVE 2 is better for the NYCTA routes.  BVE 4 is better for the foreign routes.  If you have Vista its better to get BVE 4.

i like BVE2 better. plus i get a better frame rate (6 FPS, sadly, but at least its better than the [expletive] 4-3 FPS i get on BVE 4) on my shitty computer on BVE2 so that makes it even better
