Creating Routes:

If you think you have what it takes to build a route, well don't you think its about time you get started?

Route Creation can get really frustrating as with all types of programming languages, so be prepared to face problems, and fix problems otherwise known as debugging.  Using RouteBuilder might be a good alternative, but as with coding things like this, using What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) editors makes things harder when problems do arise, and would easier to be fixed for a route builder who codes by hand.  The following is about coding in CSV files, which is compatible with both BVE2 and BVE4.  CSV files, are somewhat easier than route files, and can be edited with Excel (as thats what they say, I've tried editing routes with Excel 2007, and renders the CSV file useless after editing in Excel), so your best and safest bet is to use notepad.

Dennis Lance's BVE Route building tutorials offers a route building tutorial for complete beginners, and assumes that you have no prior knowledge at all.  By reading and doing the first tutorial, already you would have created a simple route, so go ahead and try it.  ;D

Once you have mastered all these tutorials by Dennis Lance, you can then check out the following:

You can use this as a reference or guide to building your routes.

As with all programming, make sure you save your files often, and back up things before you make major changes, you don't want to find out that the big change you make totally wrecked your entire route.

Modifying existing routes:

Modifying existing routes is easy, and once again Dennis Lance explains how here :

On my part you can edit station walls, being that the route has them...  I would have to say its for a middle experienced coder,  and you can go ahead and create new textures, and replace them in game.  In the future I'll post a tutorial on how to do that, but I've got to find a suitable route to do it on, all these routes limit what we can do with it, therefore, you should do this in private, and you must ask permission from the author to redistribute your modified work.

I hope all the stuff I've mentioned have inspired you to create your own route, as anybody can be a route developer, if you put your mind to it, and are willing to do it.

Amtrak Train 7 Empire Builder:

Eh, I know I can never become a dev of a route. Too much coding, and I'm usually busy (school, or Battlefield 2/1942, or whatever I'm doing, plus,I'm on Windows Vista, a big no no for BVE).

error46146:

NO! NO ROUTE BUILDER!! ROUTE BUILDER SUCKS ASS, YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO USE IT.

Me, I hand code everything.

Amtrak Train 7 Empire Builder:

Route Builder can suck on my balls.

I still dont get how to use that program from this day...  Simply recommended that you dont use it.
