How to use Track Viewer

by error46146:

Track Viewer is a wonderful tool you can use to see a route without opening BVE. Track Viewer, in addition, also gives you the freedom to see the route at any angle.

To begin, download Track Viewer by clicking the link below: http://mackoy.cool.ne.jp/archives/track1_2_5.zip

After you've downloaded it, unzip the ZIP file into a convenient place, since this is a very important tool especially to route builders who don't have all day waiting for their routes to load just to see some minor detail.

After you installed everything, open up Track.exe . You will see something like this:

On the menu bar, click File then Open. Select the route you want to view. For our example we will use the Franklin Avenue Shuttle.
Wait for the route to load. When its done loading, you will be at the stop mark at the first station at the bottom of the track like so:

If you want to view the route like this, then fine with me. But, since I want to get a RFW-style view of the route, i can right click and drag the window up, so now i get a better view like this:
Now, to go forward, i press Up on my keyboard. That will advance by 1 meter. To go backward, i press Down. If I want to go forward by 25 meters, i press Page Up. Press Page Down to go backwards 25 meters. Finally, if I want to go forward by .1 meters, I hold down Control then press Up.
What if I want to jump to a certain station on the route? No problem. On the menu bar, I click Jump, then a menu of all the stations will come out. To visit a station, just click on the name.
And finally, if i want to set the graphics properties such as viewing distance, fog effect, etc, i click on Configuration on the menu and Graphics, which then i will be greeted by this dialog box:

If I ever want to reload the route, i hit F5 on my keyboard.
If I want to see the route in a different angle, I left click and drag the window.
Now, here's the fun part of Track Viewer. Because I can move about freely in the route, i can kinda use Track Viewer like a virtual camera, and take pictures (er, screenshots) of routes like this:

Now, let's go over what we learned:
Up to go forwards 1 meter
Down to go backwards 1 meter
Page Up to go forwards 25 meters
Page Down to go backwards 25 meters
Control + Up to go forwards 0.1 meters
Control + Down to go backwards 0.1 meters
Left click + drag to change angle
Right click + drag to change position
F5 to reload

THE END
