Use Developer mode in BVE by rayv145

This tutorial is made in the hopes that you, after reading this, will be able to use developer mode in BVE.

What does Developer mode do?
developer mode was made to aid route developers by adding in the ability to:

    * Operate the Doors on a Train(you can only close the doors in BVE2)
    * Look at the current time in the route
    * Monitor Framerate(fps)
    * Monitor distance between you and the Preceeding train(BVE2 only)

and more!

Here's how you do it for BVE4:

    * open BVE4
    * right click anywhere on the screen
    * click on options
    * click on the user tab

you should already be highlighted as user. Click on developer and click ok. you can now use developer mode! here are the most important commands:

    * F2: displays info(time, fps, speed, etc)
    * F5: re-loads the route, you should be at the same spot you were at already if you pressed it by accident
    * F6: Operates the doors
    * F7: Controls Speed. Pressing Shift and F7 Simultaneously makes the train move Forward faster, while pressing Ctrl and F7 makes the train Reverse faster. Pressing F7 immediately stops the train(no brakes are applied)
    * F8: Speeds the clock up. press F8 again to disable the feature
    * X and Z: Zoom. X Zooms in, Z zooms out. Holding Z for a few seconds returns the screen to the default location

BVE2 uses some of BVE4's commands, but accessing developer mode is more complicated than BVE4. You will need BVE Route Randomizer for Developer mode in BVE2. If you already have it, continue reading for the instructions:

    * Open BRR. If you don't have a shortcut for it, it should be in "Disk name/Program Files/BVE/Railway/Object/BRR
    * Choose your Route and Train
    * In the pop-up screen, there is a list of check-off boxes in the lower left corner.

    * check off Start in Developer Mode
    * Start BVE

There you go! here is a list of command differences in BVE2:

    * Shift/Ctrl+F3: Controls information bar. The bar is locates under the safety system column at the lower-right hand corner of the screen. The Bar shows the same info as BVE4, but only 1 at a time. One extra piece of info the bar shows is how fast the train is accelerating(Shift+F3 3 times).
    * You cannot use the F8 Command
    * F6 only Closes the doors

And there you go! let me know if anything is missing in the tutorial. Enjoy Smiley
