I'll be in charge for the support center for OpenBVE-a great add-on for BVE by Michelle. I will be addressing 2 topics today.

1.) OMFG, MY DAMN TRAIN IS ALL WHITE WTF?!!!!!!!!!!
2.) HOW THE FCK DO U MAKE TRAINS IN OPENBVE?!!@$#

Let's address problem/situation 2 first. OpenBVE requires 2 things for the train to fully work properly.
1.) The train folder located in C:/ProgramFiles/BVE/Train/(train name)
AND
2.) The object folders (I will be adderessing that later on.

The first bullet is quite easy because everybody knows where the train is located. If not, then look around the forums, because I WILL NOT be answering that.

Okay. Here comes the harder part, locating the train's object folder. This is neccessary because it contains EVERYTHING for the train's exterior parts. Lets use the R142_5 train as an example.

Now give me a route that has the R142_5 train in it. You should have said the 2 route. The 2's object folder is located in C:/ProgramFiles/BVE/Railway/Object/WestsideA
That is the 2's object folder. Inside the WestSideA folder, there should be a whole section of folders. 1 of them should be named cars. Click on that.
Next up, you should see train bullets, train cars, and some .b3d files. Now we are specifically looking for R142_5 trains so lets look at files related to that.
_____

Inside the WestSideA folder, you need the following files in the folder. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM.
1.) r142_5.b3d (.b3d file)
2.) no.5_front (its a image file)
3.) no.5_side (its a image file)

After you have all of that, your good. If you don't something is messed up in your WestSideA folder and I'm not going to help you.

Now COPY AND PASTE all of the files onto your desktop. Now RENAME the r142_5.b3d file into Front.b3d (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE .b3d AFTER THE WORD "FRONT")
Then COPY AND PASTE another copy of the r142_5.b3d and RENAME it Center.b3d
Then COPY AND PASTE another copy of the r142_5.b3d and RENAME it Rear.b3d

Okay, lets navigate away from here for a minute.

Lets go locate your OpenBVE folder. I'm not sure where the fck you put your folder, but this is what you do next:

1.) You find your OpenBVE folder (SomePlaceOnYourMessedUpComputer/OpenBVE)
2.) Find the folder "car" in the OpenBVE folder
3.) open it, you should see the folders, 113 and 750 in it.
4.) Make a new folder in "car" labeled R142_5 (or watever you wanna name it)
5.) Drag the files that you made earlier, the .b3ds and the pictures into the R142_5 folder
6.) Okay your all set now
____

Now you have the R142 5 train files in OpenBVE
______

Now open up your settings in your OpenBVE file IN NOTEPAD and look in the middle of the document. It should say something like this
Where it says: frontcarfile = car/watever was here earlier
centercarfile = car/watever was here earlier
rearcarfile = car/watever was here earlier
____

Change it to:
frontcarfile = car/(R142 5 train folder that you named earlier)/Front.b3d
centercarfile = car/(R142 5 train folder that you named earlier)/Center.b3d
rearcarfile = car/(R142 5 train folder that you named earlier)/Rear.b3d
____

Look up  where it says:
; trainfolder = C:/ProgramFiles/BVE/Train/ (watever was here)
CHANGE IT TO
; trainfolder = C:/ProgramFiles/BVE/Train/R142

Now your all set to drive the train!

OMFG THE TRAIN IS ALL WHITE WTF?!!!!
The reason for this is because you did not pay attention and you copied the wrong files for the R142. Go look up here and do wat you WERE SUPPOSED TO DO.

Other problems I'm glad to solve. I'll also do more tutorials IN THIS POST on other popular cars BY REQUEST.

ipaclansite:

I guess I'll sticky this topic for people that want the support, though the latest version significantly makes it easier to select routes now.

Mike:

ipaclansite:

I think he forgot to mention all these changes happen in the settings.cfg inside of the OpenBVE folder.

What are you talking about? I gave the specific scripts for the OpenBVE settings.cfg file.
